Driving While Intoxicated

Charges of driving while intoxicated (DWI) for registered nurses in Texas are very grim. In this case, a registered nurse with a second DWI is most likely to have their license revoked by the Board of Nursing (BON).In New Jersey, for example,in extreme cases, the BON will revoke a nursing license (Avillion & Hamilton,2020). Considering it is a second charge, the nurse will most likely lose their license and probably get a disciplinary action. If the nurse has previously been subject to the boards` disciplinary action, the board will consider taking anextreme action to serve as a lesson to the nurse.

Medical Fraud

For a license to be approved, an excellent legal history is a requirement. Medical fraud, however, is not an excellent legal background. Such serious charges may require action by the BON, most possibly revocation of license. If the board considers the applicant eligible, they may be required to take a special temporary permit to do fresher work.

The main priority of nursing is clients` safety.If any nurse is involved in a behavior that may jeopardize a patients` safety,they are subject to disciplinary action.Measures of doing this include:

1. Probation:The BON may allow the nurse to work but they must not abuse any drug during this period.
2. License suspension:It mostly applies if the nurse was working while under the influence of alcohol.
3. License revocation:It is the most severe form of disciplinary action.It occurs in extreme cases when a nurse has been charged of several violations of the board rules or even a repeat crime.
