Introduction
The research focuses on the use of Tableau Software that has encompassed the business intelligence industry. Tableau is a grandmaster of data visualization tool which is characterized by simplicity of use and ability to transform the data into an interactive visualization. The analysis is based on the application of Tableau in Cisco.
Brief Description of the Organization
Cisco is a networking product manufacturer based in California, United States. The US-based technology company manufactures and sells technological devices, including the networking hardware, telecoms equipment, cybersecurity solutions, among a vast range of IT products and services. This makes the company a major player serving both consumers through business to consumer (B2C) approach and businesses through the business to business (B2B) approach. This makes the company possess the power to serve all sizes of data, provide the connection to diverse people, and make communication effective (Cisco DNA Center, 2019). Therefore, the use of Tableau software has been integral in Cisco’s training and certifications of its customers. Thus, Tableau is used to generate business intelligence solutions, training and education purposes, and IT skills development.
Technologies Which the Organization is Using
Cisco provides a number of various products and services in information technology solutions. The products by the technology firm comprise of networking hardware, including switches, wireless devices, routers, interface and modules development, optical cable networking, software, access points, cyberspace security, data centers, and storage networking. Also, data analytics is a significant entity of Cisco enabling the expansion of the Internet of Things (IoT), Cisco Kinetic, video intelligence and endpoints, and software such as IOS and NX-OS, Cisco ONE for WAN, Cisco ONE for Data Center Networking, Cisco ONE for Data Center Compute and Cloud, and Cisco ONE for Access, among others (Cisco DNA Center, 2019). Thus, the company utilizes a myriad of technologies in which Tableau is crucial to the success of all operations of the company.
Business Units that Utilize the data Presented by the Technology
The business types that utilize data presented by the Technology in Cisco comprise of service providers. From the B2B, the service providers can utilize Cisco technology to advance their operations. For example, the use of a cloud-to-client approach provides unified multi-vendor solutions that can be streamlined into an open network architecture (Seetha et al., 2017). This is based on providing simple, automation-ready, and resilient services. The small businesses utilize the B2C approach, which enables the connectivity of the employees, customers, and the organization – impacting increased customer satisfaction. The midsize business type provides multiple business intelligence solutions to companies and consumers effectively. Thus, it maintains the effectiveness of Cisco in offering critical business intelligence technology solutions to its consumers.
What the Technology Provides to the Organization
Benefits. The use of Tableau in Cisco is crucial to the operations and success of the company. Cisco utilizes Tableau software in working with a cast number of items used for the evaluation of the product demand variability (Hardin, 2012). Also, the use of Tableau enables continued monitoring of the flow of goods over the supply chain network to ascertain that there are match distribution centers with the customers across the globe. The use of Tableau enables vast analysis of data and the provision of viable solutions high demand for Cisco products and services across a massive number of consumers (Baudrez, 2020). Thus, the application of Tableau software induces cost-effective measures to minimize spending within the supply chain, track location access and demand, and streamline the operations of the company (Ko & Chang, 2017). This is based on the capacity to strike a balance between the end-user and a sophisticated network of suppliers. In turn, it leads to data drive solutions at Cisco. Thus, they prove to be highly beneficial in the operations of Cisco.
Problems. The use of Tableau in Cisco experiences the server stability issue in the running of Cisco AMP antivirus software. The running of the Cisco AMP antivirus software and Tableau Server on the same machine develops issues with the starting and stopping of the Tableau services (Knowledge Base, 2020). This prompts a need for the uninstallation of Cisco AMP from the Tableau Server to run smoothly. The disabling of Cisco does not provide an essential solution to the issue. Instead, the disabling of the Cisco AMP results in holding locks on the Tableau Server folders. Thus, lead dysfunctionalities in the system. Thus, posit a considerable problem in business operations where clients are accessing services and products without success.
Present and Future Impacts of the Technology
The use of Tableau data visualization software in Cisco induces enhanced competitive advantage in the company’s operations. This is based on making data-driven decisions that are fundamental in supply chain management and increased efficiency in the operations of the company. For instance, making effective decisions on real-time issues on customer requests. Such as, prior to Tableau installation and use in Cisco, the company used Excel for a variety of data analytics, making it profoundly difficult (Earle, 2020). Thus, Tableau is a transformative approach to data analysis and the provision of timely solutions. The efficiency in data analysis in real-time is crucial for the present and future operations of the company. That is the provision of data-driven decisions that induce competitiveness and efficiency in the company’s products and solutions. Thus, the impact on the creation of a positive reputation as a solutions-based technology company. Furthermore, it impacts the simplification of data enabling everyone in the organization to effectively utilize the data analytics for the growth and competitiveness of the company.
Expansion and Improvement Areas
Technology is a continuously growing and developing phenomenon that induces profound impacts on a company. The advancement of technology and diversification of data available from the supply chains and consumers globally requires Cisco to expand and improve accordingly. The capacity to resolve the Tableau Server stability when using Cisco AMP Antivirus indicates an improvement area where the company can eliminate all the potential adverse impacts (Earle, 2020). The primary objective of technology companies is to provide consumers with unique and quality services and products. This implies that Cisco solutions must be top-notch and offer viable solutions to the consumers. Thus, continuously maintain the degree of trust, confidence, and integrity in the company’s capacity to offer effective solutions and advanced services to the consumers (Cisco DNA Center, 2019). Hence, continuously grow and expand in all parts of the world and global tech giant.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the use of Tableau data visualization software in Cisco has been fundamental to assert the market positioning of the company as a data-driven decision-maker and problem-solver. The Tableau data visualization software has been integral in the running of the company’s supply chain across the world. Hence, it provides viable and effective solutions in handling various services and products for thousands of customers.
