Federalism in the Constitution
Discuss the pros and cons of having a direct democracy v. a representative democracy. Is it possible to have a hybrid of both and how? Find a research or credible news article to support your position.

The U.S. system is regularly scrutinized for what is wrong with it, including issues with career politicians, lobbying, the Electoral College, and the de facto two-party system.
Construct an argument why the current system is fine as is. This can be a challenge because it may conflict with actual personal views, but give it a shot.
Use evidence from history and current events to support your argument. Be ready to defend that argument too, because the opportunity for the class to critique the American system will come in this week’s replies.
