Perform a vulnerability assessment on the system using the various scanners and assessment tools. For example, you might use MBSA, available for download at http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/tools/mbsahome.mspx, to scan for common vulnerabilities on a Windows system. Simply download the program, install it, open MBSA, and select Scan a computer in the left pane. Use the default settings and click Start scan. MBSA retrieves current vulnerability information over the Internet, scans your system, and provides output such as that shown in Figure 11.2. Provide the output of this scan to your instructor.
