1. Research the law in your state or a state with which you are familiar on protective orders and identify who is covered and who is not. This should briefly be discussed in your assignment.

   Write a 650 to 700 word position statement to a state legislator recommending improvements to the law and articulate solid arguments to support your recommendations based on best practice and victim rights and protection. In order to receive full credit on this assignment, you must address a state legislator in a position statement. 

   Consider the following questions:

   • If the person identified in the order is on probation or parole, would that change your recommendations for improving the law?

Include a discussion of duration or scope of coverage. How long do these orders last in your state?
Include at least three scholarly references cited according to APA guidelines.
Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines. Including introduction and conclusion.
