Write a reflective and thoughtful discussion post about stigma on chapters 25 through 28 of the Kennedy and Fried Book, A Common Struggle. Define and discuss what stigma is. Have a clearly defined thesis or central idea and provide evidence from the book to support the thesis or idea. Analyze conflicting views of mental illness and/or addiction as presented in the chapters and describe your personal reaction to the chapters in relation to the thesis you put forth. Reflect your understanding of the effects of stigmatized perceptions of mental illness and addiction on individuals, families, and communities in writing. Make sure to provide specific examples from book chapters assigned and use in-text citations. PDF file of book is attached.
