Discussion: My Motivations for Change Never believe that a few people can’t change the world. For, indeed, that’s all who ever have. —Margaret Mead Many Walden scholars are currently working to create positive social change in the health field. Reflect on what motivated you to start your graduate program and consider your drive for social change. As you begin your doctoral program, think about the issues you might be interested in within your field of study. Review the websites provided and view the videos in your Learning Resources, and examine the many professions and life-changing issues within the field of health. Note: In grading every required Discussion posting, your Instructor uses a Discussion Rubric, located in the Course Information area. Review this rubric prior to completing your Discussion. By Day 4 Post a brief description of one issue in your field of study in which you are interested. Then, explain what motivates you to get involved in this issue. Also, explain how this issue relates to the program in which you are enrolled. Finally, explain what goals you would like to accomplish in your field of study and why. Expand on your insights utilizing the Learning Resources. By Day 6 Respond to your colleagues’ postings. Provide a substantive reply to your colleagues in one or more of the following ways: Make a suggestion or comment that will help guide your colleague to the issue (e.g., additional research on the issue, how to get involved) in which they are interested. Expand on your colleague’s posting with additional insight and resources. https://www.bls.gov/ooh/Community-and-Social-Service/Health-educators.htm#tab-2 https://www.who.int/health-topics/health-promotion#tab=tab_1
