Choose a topic to research from the list below. Summarize your findings in a clear and succinct workplace style report. Your report should provide background information on the current status of the issue. Possible topics include: • The Black Lives Matter movement and its current status in the video game industry. • The employment status of ONE marginalized group (i.e. women, racialized minorities) in the North American game industry. • The surveillance of gamers in online environments. • Military uses of video games. • Canadian educational policy related to games in K-12 education Include in your report: 1. An executive summary. 2. An overview of the topic. 3. An explanation / brief history of the issue. 4. Key stakeholders involved in the issue and their perspective(s). 5. Rules / processes / concerns involved and best practices for navigating them. 6. Suggestions for further reading. 7. A one-page reflection that describes your approach to the assignment and challenges you faced. 8. An appendix that includes diagrams or tables (if appropriate for your issue). 9. Cite a minimum of 8-10 relevant academic or professional sources in your assignment (this includes your suggestions for further reading). At least 4 sources must be course readings. Keep in mind: a report is not an academic essay. Think of it as something designed to educate and bring an intelligent stakeholder up to speed on an issue. Assume that the person you are preparing the report for is busy and only wants the most important facts. Present them in a clear and concise fashion.
