At the conclusion of our unit on apologies and apologia, we will watch the documentary entitled Weiner which centers on former Representative Anthony Weiner’s mayoral campaign. After watching this film in class students will be required to write a minimum of a three-page paper addressing what they believed to be “key mistakes” that lead to Weiner’s downfall and what they believed should/could have been done to “save” his campaign. At the same time, if students believe the campaign was doomed no matter what, they are able to do so but must justify why using our knowledge of apology, apologia, and political communication.
