Comparative Argument Analysis Essay

Description

Please write a comparative argument essay.   – Based on the materials as presented by differing sides of the argument. (NOT BASE ON YOUR PERSONAL VIEW). – Need to identify each site’s bias, its “take” on the initial story, its media coverage (is it a national debate, a local “take” on a national issue or something else). -Establish the factuality of the materials presented by each side versus the emotive quality of the presentation.  ———— The pattern of the essay will be: 1. Introduction:  Present the topic behind the issue being debated. 2. Position #1: State the opinion of this position (side of the issue) in an objective manner that’s fair and accurate. 3. Context for position #1: Show the position that you understand under what circumstances its position is valid by validating it (showing where they got their materials and that the materials are from credible sources). 4. Position #2: State the opinion of this position (side of the issue) in an objective manner that’s fair and accurate. 5. Context for position #2: Show the position that you understand under what circumstances its position is valid by validating it (showing where they got their materials and that the materials are from credible sources). 6. Continue this pattern for any other “sides” of the issue you discover.  7. Judgment: Ascertain, based on what is presented, and how it is presented, which position/side is the most logical and appropriately presented.  ———– 9 sources needed for this essay (NOT a newspaper article) –  (1) source for a neutral “history” of the origins of the debate (this is a history piece, not a new story) – (2) “PRO” side sources: groups who are proponents of the issue…such as Political Action Committee FOR the thing or the advocating/supporting agency. – (2) “CON” side sources: groups who are proponents of the issue…such as Political Action Committee AGAINST the thing or the advocating/supporting agency. – (4) sources origins: 2 sources per side–of the materials each side used as evidence–find the source the PACs agencies used to research their sides
